• Deadline: 29 March 2023

This is a collaboration between Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (NPM) and Coastal People: Southern Skies (CPSS). We are making a short call for excellent research activities that have scholarly, creative and/or community engagement dimensions that serve to document, interrogate and communicate the spectrum of displacement impacts that have affected Māori communities due to Cyclone Gabrielle. Displacement may be interpreted broadly and relate to any cyclone related interruption of everyday life, both short or long term.

  • The next issue of MAI Journal will be published within the next few days. Papers appearing are:

  • Whare across the motu have been tuning into the Rugby World Cup to support the Black Ferns as they cut a track to the finals. The superb athleticism and skill on display has been a huge drawcard, generating enthusiastic support for the players and their teams. The Ferns, which has a large contingent of Māori and Pasifika players, have had to overcome a number of challenges in the lead up to the Cup, including the fallout from their troubled 2021 European tour, which led to the appointment of new coaches.

  • On August 18th, Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (Ngā Pae) was thrilled to host the Hon. Ayesha Verrall, Minister for Research, Science and Innovation at Rehutai, Waipapa Taumata Rau.
