Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga's 2019 Grants and Awards programme is now open, and it is positioned to share our research, build capability and expand capacity across all of NPM's research theme areas.

This is the last full round of NPM's Grants and Awards programme for our current CoRE contract with the Tertiary Education Commission ending 31 December 2020. And so please note there will not be a full call in 2020 - all grants and awards MUST be completed by 30 November 2020.



Each of the opportunities below has a formal application process and assessment criteria - please link to the grant or award's criteria and apply online.

NPM Knowledge Event Support Grants are designed to support an event where research knowledge of a transformative nature will be shared among key audiences, such as communities, policy makers, academics and researchers. Each grant is valued at up to $10,000.

The NPM Conference Attendance Support Grants are designed to support early career Māori researchers to disseminate their research and present at national or international conferences. They are valued at up to $2,500 per applicant. Noting our 9th Biennial International Indigenous Research Conference is 16-20 November, 2020 in Tāmaki Makaurau.

NPM Publication Support Grants have a long and successful history of providing support for our Māori researchers to publish or disseminate their research findings, with a grant value of up to $15,000.

NPM's Doctoral Completion Grants are designed to provide assistance to Doctoral candidates to complete and submit their doctoral thesis, or to prepare and publish their doctoral research and are valued at up to $2,500 per award.



Call for Summer Internship Projects

Stage 1 of the Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga 2019-2020 Summer Internship project applications process is open once again.  NPM Investigators from our 21 partner institutions are invited to submit an intern project proposal now. Your proposal is for a project to be carried out over a ten-week period during the summer holiday break from December 2019 to February 2020. The project will be carried out by an student intern under the supervision and with the support of an NPM Researcher. To propose an internship project researchers must submit their project proposals online. A project assessment and selection process then takes place and at least 20 internship project proposals will be advertised September 2019 for students to review and apply to undertake.



Call for Borrin Foundation - NPM Summer Internship Projects

The Borrin Foundation - NPM 2019-2020 Summer Internships are for Māori pre-doctoral law students who are genuinely interested in advancing their skills and capacity in law and Indigenous development.



Interested and qualified senior NPM Researchers from our research partners need to submit their project proposals for this coming summer now. If your proposal is selected and you are matched with an intern you will be required to supervise the student for ten weeks over the summer period through the internship. There are two Borrin Foundation - NPM 2019-2020 Summer Internships available, and both are valued at $5,500 per internship.
