Project commenced:
Awardee: Kirsty Dunn (Te Aupōuri, Te Rarawa), University of Canterbury

The Awardee will undertake the Whakaaweawe Impact and Transformation Grant titled Ngā Au o Te Awaroa: Podcast Project Celebrating Māori Philosophy, Creativity, and Community.

This three-part podcast project aims to share research undertaken within Aotahi: School of Māori and Indigenous Studies with the wider community, while also celebrating the innovative kaupapa led by postgraduate students.

Drawing on three distinct areas of research and teaching within Aotahi - creative production, philosophy, and the Master of Māori and Indigenous Leadership (MMIL) - the podcast will highlight the creative and collaborative mahi emerging from these pathways.

The series is designed to make Māori and Indigenous research more accessible and shareable beyond academic spaces. It also provides opportunities to build capacity in contemporary storytelling technologies and to continue collaborative work with students, graduates, and community members.

By hosting the podcast on both local and international platforms, the project seeks to showcase student research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and creative production to a broad audience. The three distinct focuses of the series are intended to be transformative in their accessibility and reach.
