To achieve these goals and values NPM will be running three new workshops to develop research related skills. The workshops are free and are being online initially, and at a later date will move to in-person sessions.
All three workshops will be facilitated by experienced academic developer Associate Professor Meegan Hall (Ngāti Ranginui), NPM’s strategy lead for the Professional Excellence programme.
Attendees - these workshops are primarily for NPM emerging and early to mid-career Māori researchers and scholars via MAI Te Kupenga and NPM's research network.

1. Rangatiratanga: Developing your CV
We all know that a good CV can help get a job but it is also an essential part of attracting research funding. This workshop will guide participants through the standard New Zealand CV template, which is a component of research grant applications for funds administered by the likes of the Royal Society Te Apārangi, MBIE and Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga. Participants are invited to bring their own devices to this practical workshop, so they can start to apply effective strategies to assemble their evidence and create their strongest CV.

2. Kaitiakitanga: How to review and be reviewed
Reviewing articles or papers for journals or conferences is one of the essential acts of academic citizenship that Māori researchers are often called on to do. But how many of us have been trained about how to review, or how to respond to reviews? This workshop will cover the principles of a good review and share successful strategies for dealing with review feedback.

3. Whanaungatanga: Growing your research relationships
Whether you are a postgraduate student, an early career academic, or an experienced researcher, the value of collaborating with and learning from other researchers cannot be underestimated. This workshop will help you to identify (or broaden) your own research relationships and find your academic ‘kindred spirits’, mentors and colleagues. You will also develop a plan for enhancing your relational agency and help to create and consolidate supportive Māori research communities.
