Associate Professor Keegan is a trailblazing academic based in the Computer Science Department, University of Waikato and is the Associate Dean Māori for Te Wānanga Pūtaiao (Division of Health, Engineering, Computing and Sciences) with postgraduate degrees in computer engineering and te reo Māori. His research focuses on traditional navigation, Māori language technologies, Indigenous language interfaces, and use of te reo in a technological environment. He developed the Microsoft Māori keyboard, Microsoft Office in Māori, Moodle in Māori, Google Web Search in Māori and the Māori macroniser. He is Chair of the Kāhui Māori, Science for Technological Innovation National Science Challenge. He has won the Prime Minister’s Supreme Prize for tertiary teaching. Science Challenge.
